Arthritis Management
What is Arthritis Management?
Arthritis, the inflammation of a joint, is usually accompanied by pain and stiffness and in some caes may lead to deformity.
How We Treat Arthritis Management
Both occupational and physical therapies play important roles in the treatment of patients affected by arthritis. The primary goals of therapy include improving and restoring joint mobility, improving the strength of the muscles to support the joint, protecting the affected joints from additional irritation, structural deterioration or deformity; enhancing the ability to perform daily activities, and managing pain.
There are a variety of ways to treat the symptoms of arthritis including joint mobilization and other manual therapies, paraffin baths, hydrotherapy, fluidotherapy and customized splinting as needed. Your therapist will determine the best approach to your treatment based on your specific condition.
